Kim T. Becker Fine Art

"Painting directly from nature and still-life opens a space or portal inside me where light and shadow consume me, and time is lost, and joy is found."

Kim Becker works from her home (CIRCLE WINDOW STUDIO) in the rural Township of Rockland, Wisconsin. She holds a BFA in Painting and an MS in Art and Education from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. After working for 35 years in Art and Education she has retired and returned to concentrating on painting and creating in her studio. Kim taught Art in the Public school system for 23 years, retiring from the Valders Area School District in 2019. She previously freelanced as a Design Studio Artist for ten years at Wisconsin Tissue Mills in Menasha, and then took on as "Curator of Education" at the Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh. She has come full circle with her goal of being a full-time artist in her studio.

"When I'm not in Circle Window Studio creating, I'm swimming in the local lap pools. I live just 30 miles south of Green Bay in a beautiful rural setting. Inspired every day as I just look out my window at the changing natural landscape of our area. I frequently visit beautiful Door County for painting inspiration. I see life in nature and feel the movement of the earth and sky. I see so much beauty in form, light and shadow and I love expressing my spontaneous and intuitive possibilities while painting. Sometimes my mind wanders beyond, and my imagination takes over."

My work is never about just what I am seeing, but what I am feeling and dreaming. My early work in watercolor has some inspiration from surrealism and natural symbolism, while my later pastel paintings have a bit of inspiration from Fauvism and Impressionism. I am also interested in reinventing the portrait with soul and story. My goal is to create authentic emotionally engaging work inspired from the world around me that will interest and inspire the viewer.
